People arrive at this address expecting charts, countdowns and somebody’s selection of the week. There are none, and there never will be: this is a working studio, not a publication. The heat in the name is literal — a bowl of embers warming the room where the work is made — and the list in the name is the shortest list imaginable: the five lines of one character’s card.
That refusal is deliberate. A studio that ranks other people’s work stops being a studio and becomes a noticeboard, and noticeboards do not keep anyone’s character consistent. Here, the only judgement practised is the maker’s own, against her own card, on her own frames.
What changes from day to day is the line below the card — outfit, corner, hour, light. What never changes is the card itself, and nothing on this site is ordered, placed, placed-for-pay or counted down.
If you came for a ranking, the honest answer is that the stand cannot help you. If you came to make one woman, consistently, the stand is warm and the card is ready to be written.
The stand does keep one ordering, privately, for each maker: her own frames, judged against her own card, best third kept. That ordering is never published, never sold and never about anyone else’s work. It is a maker’s shelf, not a chart — and it is the only list this address will ever produce.
